Why Choose Sculptra?

In the course of the natural ageing process, our skin and bodily tissues lose volume and can begin to wrinkle or sag. Sculptra is suitable for increasing the volume of depressed areas, particularly to correct skin depressions, such as in skin creases, wrinkles, folds and scars, and for skin aging.

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which fill lines, wrinkles, and folds, Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that can improve skin glow, tightness, and jawline contour.

Sculptra provides long-lasting results with the benefits building up over time and lasting for two years or longer.

How Does Sculptra Work?

In contrast to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, which show immediate results, Sculptra works by stimulating an increase in the patient’s own natural collagen production, providing subtle volume and lift. This is a gradual but long-lasting process.

Within a few weeks of the initial treatment, changes will take place in the metabolic pathway, significantly elevating the expression of collagen mRNA. Noticeable improvements at the tissue level will emerge soon after. A clinical study demonstrated that patients experienced a 66% increase in collagen type within only three months of initiating treatment.

Significant changes in wrinkles are noticeable three weeks after the final treatment session, with the improvements typically continuing for two years or more.

Most people require three treatment sessions with two or three doses of Sculptra used at each treatment. Treatments typically take place over the course of three or four months.

Sculptra Areas of Treatment

Sculptra is best suited for addressing age-related volume loss and providing a gradual, natural-looking improvement over time. Sculptra is an effective treatment for many areas of the face, providing a youthful refresh to your skin. The specific areas treated may vary based on individual aesthetic goals and the assessment of your nurse injector. Popular areas of treatment with Sculptra include:

  • Temple Hollows

  • Cheek Hollows

  • Cheek Depressions

  • Nasolabial Folds

  • Marionette Lines

  • Chin Folds/Wrinkles

Sculptra can effectively improve the appearance of wrinkles while also addressing volume loss. If you are looking strictly for a wrinkle-relaxing treatment, Botox or Dysport may be better solutions.

Our nurses then assess the area you wish to have treated. We always review the benefits and risks of the treatment, as well as any potential complications.

What Can I Expect During My Sculptra Treatment?

Prior to your treatment, your nurse, under the supervision of our medical director, will review your medical history, current health profile and medications. This is to ensure that the treatment is right for you. You’ll also have an opportunity to discuss the results you’re looking to achieve and to ask questions about the treatment. Once both you and the treatment team are satisfied, the treatment can proceed.

During the treatment, the Sculptra formulation is injected under your skin using a small tube called a cannula. This device allows the injector to precisely place the Sculptra formulation, ensuring optimal results. Sculptra is formulated with a numbing agent, helping to minimize any discomfort experiened during the treatment.

The whole appointment, including consulation and Sculptra treatment takes about 60 minutes.

Pearl on King puts your well-being and comfort above all else. Our team has years of experience and education in the field. This means you get the safest and most professional care available. Not only that but you’ll enjoy our professional service in a discreet and relaxing setting.

After Your Sculptra Treatment

  • Induration, or a feeling of fullness of thickness, can be felt in the injection area. This is a normal response of the treated tissue to the process of inflammation and neocollagenesis. Massaging the treated areas gently five times per day for five minutes, for five days after the injection can help minimize induration.

  • Redness/swelling is normal for a few hours to days. Apply an ice pack to the treated area, as directed by your treating nurse.

  • Some patients experience minor pain, tenderness and/or headache after filler injection. Use Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and refrain from using Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories (NSAIDS) including Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Celebrex and Aspirin for one week as these can contribute to further bruising.

  • You may be able to feel the Sculptra in the area after treatment and this is considered normal. However, red, painful or tender nodules should be reported right away as this could indicate an infection and antibiotics may be required.

  • Gently clean the area twice daily with mild soap. Aloe gel can also be used.

  • Avoid chemical soaps, lotions or irritants (glycolic acids, retinoids, etc.) until all redness/swelling resolves.

  • Make-up may be used as long as the skin is not broken or irritated. It is best to wait at least a day, if possible. Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for four hours after treatment.

  • Return for your next appointment as directed by your treatment provider.

  • A follow-up appointment is encouraged after approximately five weeks to allow the product to settle and begin to take effect and will allow for an assessment of the treatment.
