Why Dermal Fillers?
In the course of the natural ageing process, our skin and bodily tissues lose volume and can begin to wrinkle or sag. Dermal fillers are an effective way to replace lost volume and restore a youthful appearance.
In addition to maintaining or restoring one’s natural features, dermal fillers can also be used to add plump and definition to create subtle to dramatic changes in your facial features.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that contributes to your skin’s vitality. Dermal filler treatments add volume, plump or smooth your skin when they are injected into the tissue just below the skin’s surface.
You’ll notice the effects of dermal fillers almost immediately and will enjoy their benefits for 6 to 18 months, depending on the treatment areas and the rate that your body metabolizes the filler.
Dermal Fillers Areas of Treatment
Lips: This is our most sought-after treatment, as it offers many possibilities. Some clients receive the treatment to maintain their natural youthful volume, while others seek to add plump for a more dramatic appearance.
Under Eyes: This area is commonly known as the tear trough. Dermal fillers in this area replace lost volume and counteract the appearance of bags under the eyes.
Cheeks: Dermal fillers in the cheeks are commonly used to restore lost definition and to add contour to the face.
Jaw Line: Similar to cheeks, filler in the jawline is commonly used to create facial definition and to add contour to the face.
Chin: Although a smaller area of the face, dermal filler in the chin can add prominence and shape to the entire face. Treatment in this area is often combined with other areas to create a full facial contouring effect.

What Happens During a Dermal Fillers Consultation?
Our nurse injectors will review the intake forms that you complete in advance of your appointment. This review is used as a starting point to discuss your concerns and treatment goals.
Our nurses then assess the area you wish to have treated. We always review the benefits and risks of the treatment, as well as any potential complications.
Our goal is that the consultation will make you feel educated and empowered to decide if a dermal filler treatment is right for you.
Consultations can be done at our downtown Toronto dermal fillers clinic or virtually from the comfort of your couch!
What Can I Expect During My Dermal Fillers Treatment?
Prior to your treatment, our medical supervisor will review your medical history, current health profile and medications. This is to ensure that the treatment is right for you. You’ll also have an opportunity to discuss the results you’re looking to achieve. Once both you and the medical supervisor are satisfied, the treatment can proceed. This will involve a series of small injections made to different areas of the face.

After Your Dermal Fillers Treatment
Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated area. Do not wear restrictive clothing or accessories that may put pressure or friction on the treated area, such as goggles, eyeglasses or jewelry.
Do not sleep on your side for the first 24-48 hours for cheek/jaw injections.
Do not fly in an airplane within the first week after receiving a dermal filler.
Do not have any dental work completed in the next two weeks.
Redness/swelling is normal for a few hours to days. Apply an ice pack to the treated area, as directed by your treating nurse.
Some patients experience minor pain, tenderness and/or headache after filler injection. Use Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and refrain from using Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories (NSAIDS) including Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Celebrex and Aspirin for one week as these can contribute to further bruising.
You may be able to feel the filler in the area after treatment and this is considered normal. However, red, painful or tender nodules should be reported right away as this could indicate an infection and antibiotics may be required.
Gently clean the area twice daily with mild soap. Aloe gel can also be used.
Avoid chemical soaps, lotions or irritants (glycolic acids, retinoids, etc.) until all redness/swelling resolves.
Make-up may be used as long as the skin is not broken or irritated. It is best to wait at least a day, if possible. Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 4 hours after treatment.
Noticeable results are immediate, but improvement will continue over the next 2 weeks.
Results are dependent upon the area treated and the type of filler used, but generally last between six and 18 months.
Return for your next appointment as soon as you notice that the filler is beginning to dissolve in the treated area and/or you desire further correction or enhancement.
A follow-up appointment is encouraged after approximately 2 weeks to allow the product to settle and take full effect and will allow for an assessment of the area and determination if the further filler is required. If more product is desired, additional fees will be discussed at that time.
