Why Botox & Dysport?

As we age, our skin naturally develops lines and wrinkles, caused by changes to our skin and our facial muscles contracting.

Good news! Pearl on King offers Botox and Dysport injections that smooth and soften facial wrinkles and frown lines.

Botox and Dysport are leading brands of medications known as neuromodulators. Not only do Botox and Dysport help treat facial wrinkles, but they also effectively limit hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching).

Treatments are minimally invasive and last for several months.

Cosmetic procedures like Botox and Dysport are widely used in clinics in Toronto and around the world.

How Does Botox & Dysport Work?

Botulinum toxin is a medication that helps eliminate facial wrinkles. It is more commonly known by leading brand names like Botox and Dysport. Injection of botulinum toxin into a facial muscle causes it to relax, making the surface of your skin smoother. You’ll start to see effects within a few days of the treatment. Optimal results will be visible in about two weeks with results lasting about three or four months.

Botox & Dysport Areas of Treatment

Botox and Dysport can be used to treat a number of common aesthetic concerns, as well as some medical conditions.

Forehead: Lines and creases appear in the forehead over time. These are caused by repeated movement from the muscles in the area, including when the eyebrows are raised. Botox treatments can help smooth out these lines and creases.

Around the Eyes: Fine lines and wrinkles develop around the eyes over time as a result of smiling, laughing and squinting. Botox treatment can help to relax the muscles around the eye, smoothing out your features.

Between the Eyebrows: Also known as the “11s” or glabella, this area develops lines and creases from movements like frowning and squinting. In some cases, we develop tension and even headaches caused by repeated contraction of the muscles in this area. Botox treatments work to eliminate these lines and creases and can also bring relief to the muscles in this area.

Eyebrow Arch: Botox can be used to emphasize the arch in your eyebrows, making your eyes appear bigger.

Lip Flip: Botox can be injected into the upper lip area to “flip” your lip upward, making the upper lip appear fuller. The lip flip is sometimes used as an alternative to dermal filler in the upper lip. It can also be used to complement and enhance lip filler.

Hyperhidrosis: Botox injections can be used to block the sweat glands in the underarms, hands and feet. This treatment is effective in reducing sweating. Results from this treatment last up to six months. Hyperhidrosis treatment is covered by some health benefit plans.

Differences Between Botox and Dysport

The differences between Botox and Dysport are minor. Although there are differences in their chemical makeup, both products are neuromodulators that are most commonly used to treat wrinkles.

Dysport is known to have a quicker onset. It is also known to diffuse more easily than Botox. This means that Dysport may work best in larger areas (e.g. the forehead), while Botox works well in small areas (i.e. around the eyes).

Talk to our registered nurses to find out more about the differences between Botox and Dysport. They’ll help you decide what product is best for your needs!

At what age should you start getting Botox?

Botox is approved for patients who are 18 years and older and most experts agree that patients in their mid to late 20s and early 30s are at a good age for preventative Botox treatment.

Can you still make facial expressions with Botox?

To keep some form of expression in the area where being treated can ask their injector for less product. As a result the muscles will still have some ability to contract.

So appreciative of my treatment last week. I’m so happy with the results. In the past I have experienced headaches post-treatment. This time - perfect! I look forward to seeing you again. Also, an additional thank you for being so kind when I was having a pretty rough day.
