If you live in downtown Toronto, chances are you have a friend who has raved to you about the anti-aging results of products like Botox and Dysport. Sure, we all know they erase wrinkles, but what is it actually like to get a treatment? Does it hurt? Does it take a long time? Can anyone get it?
At Pearl on King we have a very specific procedure that emphasizes your comfort, safety and results. And we’ve put together a little post to help you understand just what it’s like!
Preparing For Your Appointment
The first step is to complete your health history forms. We’ll send ‘em to you by email when you book your appointment. Take your time to complete them before you arrive for your appointment. It doesn’t hurt to be able to do this from the comfort of your couch, either! Make sure to write down any questions you’d like to have answered during your appointment.
Your booking email will also include instructions to follow leading up to your appointment. Make sure to take note of these important steps.
[Side note on privacy: With Botox becoming more popular, we’re seeing the service pop up in different types of non-clinical settings. Remember to do you research before you book and make sure that proper safety and privacy precautions are taken. Cosmetic injections are medical procedures and that means your personal information must be protected according to the Personal Health Information Protection Act [PHIPA]. At Pearl on King we take this seriously! Our online booking system is PHIPA compliant and our staff will never disclose information about your treatment without your permission. Feel free to ask us for more details!]
Appointment Step 1: Consultation
Consultation is really important for first-timers because we need to make sure the treatment is safe for you and that we can help you achieve your treatment goals. Your nurse will review your health history forms with you to make sure the treatment is safe and that you are an appropriate candidate for the treatment.
Next, your nurse will go over the risks and benefits of the treatment. You’ll have lots of time to ask questions. Your nurse will also discuss the specifics of the treatment, including the cost.
[Important! If we can’t go ahead with the treatment for medical reasons or if you decide you’re just not ready…no problem! Your consultation is always free and we will not pressure you into anything you are not comfortable with.]
Appointment Step 2: Treatment
The main event! This is usually the shortest part of the process. First your nurse will do some prep, including a thorough cleansing of the area to be treated. Then it’s time for your injections! Each person is different, but an average first-time treatment requires four or five injections. Our nurses use insulin syringes, which have very small needles. It’s a pretty pain-free experience. In fact, the best comparison we’ve heard came from a client who said the injection feels like a little mosquito bite!
Aftercare
Ok…that’s was pretty quick and painless! Now your nurse will go over some important instructions to follow [sorry, no alcohol for the next 24 hours…]. And that’s it! The whole process only takes 30-45 minutes.
Although you’ll start to notice changes in the first couple of days, it can take up to 14 days for your results to fully set in. We’ll have you come back in two weeks to check out the results. Tour nurse will take more photos and so you can compare the before-and-after results. Sometimes first-timers will need a tiny touch up to make their results perfect. If that’s the case we’ll take care of that in this appointment too!
And that’s it! Your results will hold for about three months, so we’ll book you in to visit again at that time. Follow up treatments only take 15 or 20 minutes.
Now that you know all about the process, take a minute to meet our Nurse Injectors, Matthew and Genevieve. And don’t forget to book our Intro Offer to save 20% on your first visit!
