With wrinkle-reducing treatments becoming more popular, there has been a big increase in the number of people offering these services. In a city as big as Toronto it can be downright overwhelming to find a trustworthy injector. To help make this important decision a little easier, we’ve put together a list of three important factors you should keep in mind.
Credentials
This one seems obvious, but you’d be surprised at how many people forget to do a background check on their injector before receiving treatment. Just because it’s important to do this research, it doesn’t mean it takes a lot of time. A few minutes now can save you a potential headache down the road. Here are a few simple things to look for:
1. Check their registration to make sure it’s current and that there are no questionable findings on their record. More information is available at the College of Nurses of Ontario’s registry.
2. Make sure the nurse is trained in providing cosmetic injections. Although all nurses can provide injections, do you really want to work with someone who doesn’t have specialized training? Just ask your injector where they received their instruction and what level of training they’ve achieved. Anyone with proper credentials will be happy to tell you all about them!
To save you the legwork, we can tell you that Pearl on King employs only Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Just as a well-trained injector is happy to tell you about their education and experience, they’re also delighted to show you their great work. This is important for two reasons. First of all, you want to make sure your injector has work that’s worth showing. Second, you want to make sure their results align with what you’re looking for. There are lots of qualified injectors in Toronto and each has a slightly different technique. Make sure you review some of their work before deciding on the look you want.

Professionalism
We can’t emphasize this enough! Even if your injector is well-trained and has a good portfolio, you absolutely need them to be professional. Professionalism means that the injector follows best practices, emphasizes safety and listens to the customer’s wishes.
At Pearl on King, we provide every client with a complimentary consultation. This gives thus the opportunity to review your health history, ensure that you are a good candidate for treatment and listen to your wishes. We’ll also discuss cost and let you know exactly what to expect from the treatment.
Be wary of injectors that use your “consultation” as an opportunity to recommend services that you have not requested. If you find your injector is telling you what you need instead of asking you what you want, you’re probably in the wrong place. Worse yet, make sure your injector doesn’t rush you through the consultation or skip it altogether.
Equally important to consultation is aftercare. If your nurse is hurrying you out the door without providing instructions on how to take care of yourself after the treatment, they don’t have your best interests in mind.
In addition to providing detailed aftercare instructions at Pearl on King, we also request that all of our clients return for a check in two weeks after their treatment. We want to make sure that everything went well, that you’re feeling good and that the results lived up to your expectations.
